| The Library is bright and welcoming,
with themed displays which are changed on a regular basis.
They hold competitions and quizzes each month based on the display
theme. They also run a Reading Group, which meets each Friday lunchtime.
Special events are held such as ghost story sessions at Halloween,
vegetarian talks with food tasting and workshops with visiting writers
such as Peter Corey, Bernard Young and Tom Palmer. They have held
Drama workshop days too, with students from other secondary schools
attending.

Don Valley Students
on stage at the Doncaster Children's Book Award |
This school takes part in the Carnegie/Greenaway Shadowing and
the Doncaster Children's Book Award. The Library staff visit other schools involved in these schemes
to discuss the books and to hear from authors who have won awards
e.g. Alan Gibbons and Melvin Burgess. In the Greenaway Award, which
is for picture books, the staff visit a local primary school to work with
students in Year 3 on Art-based projects.
