Y10 Gifted & Talented Visit To Bradford University
Forensic Science Event

On Saturday 22nd November 2003 NAD & RWY took 15 of the Y10 Gifted & Talented cohort to Bradford University Dept of Forensic Science for a Murder Mystery Event.

Together with pupils from Ridgewood and Campsmount Schools our pupils were divided up into teams and presented with a murder to solve using Forensic Science skills.

A variety of clues were given and the teams had to carry out investigations in the Labs involving document analysis, finger printing, soil analysis, examination of hair and fibre samples, analysis of inks and preparation of a plaster cast of a footprint.

After carrying out an examination of the staged crime scene and role playing interviews between suspects and police officers the teams had to prepare a presentation to the whole group identifying the killer and giving the, scientifically supported, evidence to justify their conclusion.

The pupils from all three schools worked well together developing good team working skills, making new friends and enjoying the day. (They also identified the right killer.)
