City Learning Centre - Doncaster North CLC at Don Valley School

Extended Schools Programme

You may have noticed the large, modern building near the top of Jossey Lane at Don Valley School. This is our City Learning Centre, which opened in September 2003.

CLC under constructionThe CLC is designed to help Doncaster and its schools to meet a number of key educational and social challenges, most notably the need to raise standards and to carry through an effective programme of regeneration.

It will play a key role in Doncaster's Education City Plans.

side view of CLCThe aim of the CLC is to become a centre of excellence for developing the use of new technologies in teaching and learning, collating and sharing best practice from all sources on behalf of schools and other partners in learning.

The CLC will provide access to state of the art learning technology to children and young people, local residents and businesses.

They will also collaborate with spoke secondary schools, primary and special schools on staff training and the development of innovative approaches to teaching and learning using new technology.

Rooms planned include a Music Technology suite, Creative Arts suite, Video conferencing, links with business and a Virtual Learning Environment.

It is a highly prestigious facility - and an impressive building as the architect's sketch shows:

The CLC web site was launched on 20th September 2003 to coincide with the CLC Open Day. See it here!
