If you enjoy listening to a wide variety of music, performing and you are interested in learning how to compose your own music then this is the course for.
You will study 3 strands of music:

Popular Music of the 20th & 21st centuries

Blues
Popular music of the 1960s
Rock music, R’n’B (Rhythm and Bass), Hip-Hop
Music Theatre
Film music

World Music

Music of the Caribbean
Music of Africa
Music of India

The Western Classical Tradition

Baroque orchestral music
The concerto
Music for voices
Chamber music
The sonata

There are 4 units of study

Unit 1 Listening & appraising = 20%
Unit 2 Composing & appraising = 20%
Unit 3 Performing music = 40%
Unit 4 Composing music = 20%

You will be required to : Perform a solo
Perform in a group
Compose 2 pieces of music
Answer a variety of questions when listening to music

Saturdays @ Don Valley

As a Performing Arts College, we are proud to offer the following community classes on Saturday mornings for FREE!!

Don Valley Dinkies – A drama/performing arts class for 3-4 year olds.

Don Valley Rockers – A drumming class for 7-11 year olds.

Don Valley Mini’s – A musical mini’s class for 0-2 year olds.

Don Valley Dramatists = An adult drama group for 18+.

All classes start at 9:30am and finish at 10:30am. And remember, all are completely FREE!!
