Mathematics is a compulsory subject for all pupils. We aim to make the mathematics relevant to students by relating it whenever possible to everyday life before discussing more abstract ideas. The course aims to be realistic for students at all levels of ability.
Students will be working towards GCSE, which is offered at two levels: Foundation and Higher. A āCā grade is achievable at both levels.
GCSE teaching begins immediately after Easter in Year 9.
Students will need to complete 3 separate units/examinations during Year 10 and 11 to achieve a grade.
Although some aspects of the examinations have to be completed without a calculator, a scientific calculator is essential for students following the Higher course.
